Recently, Jinko Power Chairman Li Xiande was invited once again to participate in CCTV Finance Channel's "Dialogue" program. He joined six other industry leaders and four experts to discuss the topic "Where is the Confidence of Chinese Photovoltaics?" In response to sharp questions, they openly addressed the industry's current situation and pain points.

The program will air on October 12th at 21:30 on CCTV2. During the show, Chairman Li Xiande will discuss the development of the photovoltaic industry with TCL Zhonghuan Chairman Li Dongsheng, Tongwei Group Chairman Liu Hanyuan, GCL Group Chairman Zhu Gongshan, LONGi Green Energy Chairman Zhong Baoshen, Trina Solar Chairman Gao Jifan, and Zhejiang CHINT New Energy Chairman Lu Chuan.

Should the industry focus on offense or defense?

Li Xiande: "Jinko’s strategy is very clear—we need both offense and defense. On the offensive side, although Jinko’s products are now sold in nearly 200 countries globally, we still need to expand into emerging markets. Additionally, Jinko is a promoter and practitioner of N-type TOPCon technology. This year (2024), we plan to reach a battery conversion efficiency of 26.5%, and I believe we will achieve this soon. We aim to increase efficiency by 0.5% every year for the next three years. Research and development to ensure our products remain ahead of the competition has always been Jinko’s core strategy. From a defensive standpoint, we must balance startup rates, shipment volumes, and profitability."

How will Jinko respond to industry losses?

Li Xiande: "A company can sustain losses, but selling at a loss just to maintain operating rates and cash flow makes no sense. Unlike internet companies, we are a manufacturing company and don’t need traffic or customer data. What you lose in such a scenario are assets and cash. So right now, what we need to focus on is preserving our strength and preparing thoroughly for a longer cycle ahead."

What is key to restoring confidence in the photovoltaic industry?

Li Xiande: "Cooperation. If cooperation is merely at the surface level of the supply chain, it’s very easy. But to pursue deep development in the industry, mutual trust is essential, and that is much more difficult. Given the current situation, it's encouraging that companies are willing to sit down and discuss promoting the healthy development of the industry. This is a very positive direction."
